Tracking & Camera Trapping with Alycia Scheidel
Tuesday, August 25 at 5 pm Pacific (8 pm Eastern)
One of the most common questions that successful camera trappers receive is: how do you know where to place your cameras? This presentation will explore why wildlife tracking is the answer to that question, while looking at some firsthand examples from the field.
Bio: Alycia Scheidel is a wildlife ecologist, photographer and filmmaker with a focus on human-wildlife coexistence and science communication. She leads several different conservation programs in the pacific northwest, including a trailhead ambassador program focusing on equipping outdoor recreationists with the knowledge and skills to recreate mindfully and sustainably in wildlife habitat. She is also currently working on a film documentary about black bear human conflict in the state of California. Alycia spends much of her free time in the field, tracking various species and setting up camera traps. These images are used by various agencies and nonprofit organizations in conservation efforts.

Bone Basics & Skull ID with Dr. Wendy Hood
Tuesday, July 28 at 5 pm Pacific (8 pm Eastern)
This presentation will go over bone and skull ID basics, addressing questions such as: Does this bone belong to a fish, herp, bird, or mammal? What traits are valuable for narrowing down skull IDs to family? And how do you avoid getting overwhelmed by the huge diversity of traits given for each skull in Mark Elbroch’s book, Animal Skulls?
